About the institute
Origins and position
An institute founded where materials are actually used.
Founded in April 2019, IMW Institut operates directly within an industrial environment. Every tested sample has a clear context: it is part of a critical product, structure, welded joint or process where reliability is essential.

The testing process
From sample receipt to test report
Four steps of laboratory verification.
Every request is reviewed and the sample identified and prepared; testing and reporting follow the agreed method. Accredited status is stated only when the method falls within the valid scope.

Receipt and review of the request
Identification of the test item, review of documentation and selection of the appropriate standard and method.

Preparation of test specimens
Precision machine cutting, specimen manufacture, grinding and metallographic polishing in accordance with standards.

Performing the test
Laboratory or on-site testing using the agreed method and appropriate equipment.
- 04
Test report
Results and the method used are documented in the report; the accreditation mark is used only where applicable.
